Dr. Sonja Biddle
Dr. Sonja Biddle has been a practicing optometrist since 1989, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. A graduate of Indiana University, she received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry. Following that, Dr. Biddle completed a contact lens residency at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.
Dr. Biddle has a special interest in contact lenses. She has published several articles and book chapters on contact lenses, and has participated in clinical investigations, along with being a past advisory panel member of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute.
Among her awards and achievements are the Sola/Barnes Hind Student Recognition Award, and membership in Beta Sigma Kappa, which is the International Optometric Honor Fraternity. Dr. Biddle is involved in many optometric associations, and has held offices on the Delaware State Board of Examiners in Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Delaware Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association contact lens section.
Dr. Biddle believes in giving back to the community. She serves on the Board of Directors at TidalHealth Nanticoke.
In 2021, Dr. Biddle was named Business Person of the Year by the Western Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Phillip DeMott
Dr. Phillip DeMott joined our practice in 2020. After completing his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware,
Dr. DeMott attended Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Upon completing a second bachelor's degree
in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry Degree, Dr. DeMott returned home to serve the community in which he grew up. After several years under
his belt, Dr. Biddle sold the practice to Dr. DeMott in January, 2023. He is eager to help with all of your eye care needs and continue to service
the patients that his late aunt, Dr. Susan Betts, once served when she started the practice in 1982. His efforts will honor the work that both Dr.
Betts and Dr. Biddle brought to life.
Dr. Susan Betts
Dr. Susan Betts opened the practice on August 2, 1982. Dr. Betts built this practice from the ground up, giving excellent
eye care to the patients of Seaford and surrounding areas for 26 years. Dr. Betts was born in Baltimore, and was a life-time
resident of Seaford, Delaware. She was a graduate of Seaford High School. Her undergraduate degree was done at Virginia Tech,
where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr. Betts then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry and
received another Bachelor degree in Arts and Science and a Doctorate in Optometry in 1981. On December 1, 2008, Dr. Betts
sold the practice to Dr. Sonja Biddle. Regretfully, Dr. Betts passed away on December 26, 2008. The practice continues to
thrive under Dr. Biddle and Dr. DeMott's care.
